mini starter

Post by olbill »

hi all,
i'm working on a 1963 swept line 1/2 ton , 4 spd, 225 slant six. pretty much stock.

decided to replace the starter with a high torque mini. i ordered one from db electric. the part, # 17466 (snd008), is the only one they sell and according to them should work in just about any morpar including mine.... except mine..... or the possibility exists that i'm trying to put it in wrong. the first thing i noticed is that the new one has only 2 holes to mount it while stock has 3. even so, i cant seem to position it in there and get the holes to line up and even if i did, it looks like the new starter won't cover the whole that the old one did cover. so whats the story, am i a dunce or is this part wrong????

There is a company on ebay that sells the small starter with a special front nose piece that will fit your truck. Seller is laguyo

Yep. 2 of the bolt holes line up and the 3rd is covered by the starter body. Works well!
