Advice about re-wiring 68
My 17 year old nephew picked up a pretty sweet little 68 shortbed a couple weeks ago. It's been parked for a while, but we've managed to get the 318 running and it actually sounds pretty good. The big issue with the truck is wiring. It's been hacked up pretty good and is actually missing a lot of actual wiring. We're getting ready to wire it this week and I'm just looking for advice/tips to make the job go smoother. After a little research I came up with this kit and that's what was purchased. The instructions look pretty straightforward. My only concern right now is the amp Guage? It has a specific section that says how to wire it. It's a little confusing, but I'll figure it out. Is it a bad idea to keep the gauge. On my 68 I bypassed it, but I think with new wiring and no bulkhead it should be ok? Any tips or suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

AMP is fine and I'd say better if you eliminate the bulkhead. My Challenger still has it but I took it out of my truck.
I guess I am a purist so I use factory style wiring. I ran my own under hood to look factory and used a nice under dash unit from a 67.
If you decide to stay OG, I have some pieces you might need.

I set aside a couple days over his christmas break to do the wiring. He went snowboarding instead, so now I just haven't had time to help him out. Damn Millenials

How did it go? I have installed 4 rebel wires on different makes of cars. I like em. They are simple, affordable and when u call the number for help, it's the guy who builds them who answers, not some salesman who doesn't know anything other than cha-Ching. I've found wiring easy because everything is labeled. The only parts that get kinda complicated is the turn signal switch because it is where the front and rear everything meet! Then the tedious part is making the wiring look factory or just nice. Take ur time, ask questions, use a light tester, heat shrink and good wire strippers and crimpers. You will do just fine

Started the wiring today. It was going pretty good until I got to the turn signals and hazards? I'm having a hard time figuring that part out

Well the truck is wired. Could not figure out the emergency flashers and we have no brake lights. I'm calling the hotline today to figure it out.

My part of the wiring is done. My nephew still needs to wrap the wires, permanently mount the fuse box, and clean up some of the routing. Got the brakes figured out by calling the Rebel wiring hotline. Guy answered right away and was very cool about helping. He explained the flashers, but I still never figured it out. I actually think the flasher might be bad.

What problem are you having and did you swap out turn signal flasher with 4-way flasher. Are you using the 3-wire or 5-wire flasher switch.

The 2 flashers are built into the fuse box , not sure what they are. There's also a flasher on the original flasher switch. The guy I talked to on the hotline said I just need to run wires from the flasher to the individual wires for the front and back lights. I didn't have time to finish it.
