Fuse Box - fuse types needed

My 68 D200 is a bucket of headaches at the moment. Currently trying to figure out which fuses are called for in the fuse box. I've spent days removing old wiring and all sorts of Mikey Mouse contraptions, trying to get to basic original wiring. Not I'm blowing fuses that control the driving lights, dash lights and dome light. The fuse box has no labels or notes so it's all a guessing game. I've found a couple wiring diagrams that say what each slot is for but it doesn't say what fuse to use. Google has turned up nothing on this that I can find. Any one hold the key to this mystery? Thanks, Tom

Thanks, Bucky. Well, that's interesting. I've got 32 and 1 amp fuses in there among others. I wish there as a definitive resource for these rigs. I may try changing some of the fuses to see what happens.

Hope this helps out. THIS one is from the 1967 Service Manual.

Jim, Thanks for this diagram. So now I'm getting conflicting fuse types from this site. One thread says all 20amp and 2amp. This shows different and different than what's in my fuse box. Likely I have the wrong fuses anyhow, but I'm thinking we all need some definitive answers on this.

To all: do you see why there would be a difference between years or models??? 68 D200 318, no bells or whistles. I seem to be chasing electrical issues around and around like many others here. We should all collaborate on a verifiable fuse box diagram. I'm talking to a friend to see how hard it would be to design a new box for these trucks all clearly labeled. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Tom

I suspect when things such as side marker lamps were mandated, this would cause an increase in fuse amperage capacity for that particular circuit. Same goes when radios were added, wipers (and heater blower motor) going from single to two to multiple speeds, etc.

I have information for some 70's Dodge trucks, but not 60's.

Re photo uploads, thanks guys. I don't think it likes the png files on my phone. Ugh, we must still be in the dark ages. Anyhow, thanks for the tips. I'll get some images sorted out eventually from my computer. Was going to show images of fuse boxes.

OK... The FIRST photo was from the 1967 Service Manual. THIS one is from the 1968 Supplement. Later today, I will see if I can take a photo of my ACTUAL 1968 FUSE BOX.

I tried, but this is the BEST photo that I can get. MOST you cannot read anymore. I am 99% sure I used the 68 Wire Schematic for the fuse sizes though. If I were you, I would use the 1968 Supplement Factory Service Manual schematic. IF you want that original one from the 1968 FSM, send me your email and I'll send it to you. :salut

Okay, I just spend an unreasonable amount of time making this pictures work in a way that I can post them on this site. Phew!

This is my rig in question and the fuse box in it's current state. Thanks again for all the replies so far. This is conflicting information but it's getting closer. Jim68, thanks for the pics, so far this is the closest thing to making sense to me.

Looks like you have a fuse (top left fuse) for an "Accessory" of some sort; whereas I do not have one there. Your box itself looks in decent shape. Great you figured out how to post photos too :salut

Maybe tomorrow I will TRY to take a pic from the back side like you did. NO guarantees though on the quality :pale

And I spy at least one blown fuse.
On my W600 sometimes I have to remove the fuses & scuff where they make contact. The fuse will be good but current not getting through.

Yeah, I saw that too, but forgot to mention it in my last post. :thinking Looks like that one is for STOP LTS, DOME LT AND PARKING LTS.

Fuses and electrical all seem to be good now, just dealing with a voltage fluctuation that makes my lights pulse when they're on. I have installed pertronix coil, ignitor, new alternator, and voltage regulator. Thanks for all you help on this thread! Tom
