Post by GTEEO »

I have a 1970 D100 with a 440 and want air! Anybody find a kit that might work? ... Thanks, Eric.

The "earlier" Dodge trucks had an underdash air conditioning unit, see photo of one in a 1968 brochure. (not sure about 69-71 models)

Have a look here:

Classic auto air makes a under dash unit that is a stand alone system. Or swap the dash out of an original a/c truck!

The problem with using an original system is the R12 freon. Sure... you can probably convert to the R134... but those are smaller freon "molecules" and will escape through a smaller "leak" that R12 would not be able to weep out of. Also, most likely all the components would have moisture or rust/debris in them. I say... if you (or anyone) is going through that much effort, put a new system in. Just my :2cents
