Hello,new here.
We just purchased a 68 1/2 ton in pretty good shape.

Cant get the flashers to work.
Put in a new flasher module, followed all wires and checked all the fuses.

Still won't work.
Lights and turn signals do work.

Any thoughts ?

Hi 1surfer,

I too have a 68 and love it. Did you change out the flasher unit on the flasher switch itself? It's a pain to reach but you can see it from under the dash. Mine has 552-12v marked on it. Next did you check the lower right fuse looking at the panel with the turn signal flasher as the top of the panel? Those look to be the 2 places that can stop voltage if your lights work but not the flashers. Power comes from the fuse panel lower right fuse into the switch flasher then out to the light wiring. I just toke out both, one after the other to check on my truck.

Good luck,
Jimharold

P.S. grab a manual, I happened to have the flasher wiring printout sitting on my work bench when I read your post.

I did put in a new flasher unit that goes in the fuse panel. Did not know there is one at the switch as well. I will check that.

Running a bit rough at my home. We live at 9600' asl.. Actually closer to 10,000 ...

Idles rough , sputters a little and had just a bit of black smoke.

It did run pretty good coming home from denver so I do think its the altitude.

Having a friend come over to help with with a tune, timing and adjustments.
I have a chiltons but does not seem to cover this altitude.

Its a 360 with a weber and mopar performance manifold. Mild cam ( RV )

Do you have any recommendations for adjustments that will help in the altitude ?

Hey 1surfer,

I hope you find the flasher fault. As for the tuning for altitude you may want to start a new post. That way more folks may notice it and help. And that was the same diagram I used that Jims68 added to his reply. Jims68 CD is great for reference and has saved me many times. Bonus is he rebuilt a 68' on the CD.

Good luck,
Jimharold

Thanks for the help. I did buy the CD. Its awesome.

I forgot my neighbor has several show quality hot rods in his garage. Old school show cars. I am going to ask him a few questions ...

Will probably start a new thread.
Thanks for the help. Diagram is great. Will check the 2nd flash init at the switch.
