two temperature sending units?

Post by lunacy »

My truck has two sending units. 65 d100 Slant 6. One is hooked up to the orange wire(white wire in the picture) and the other is a broken, but seems to have a wire that reaches to it. Is this right? If so, what does each one go to?

The bigger sensor looks similar to the oil light

I assume you are referring to the black wire and sensor located near it in that photo? Was the engine originally equipped with an electronically controlled carburetor or other emissions equipment? In those cases the second sensor is for feeding the controls that information.
Thanks,
Will

I don't believe they had an electronic carb in 65 although it has a super six intake/carb on it (1977+) its possible they swapped the whole motor or head. I have never ran the numbers on it.

That appears to be a head (possibly motor) from 70`s smog era SL 6 or newer. Exact year will show on block and casting date or part number on head.
My truck is younger than me.
