Brake lights...

Post by wilmothcody »

OK..We have now got everything working on my 68 Dodge at the rear except stop lights..We replaced the stoplight switch, have power to the 1 side when brakes aren't pressed, and power in and out when stepping on brakes..But no brake lights..Have turn signals..Always thought the brke and turn were on the same filament..Any ideas...Thank You in advance...

I have the same problem on my '69. I have not checked the brake switch yet but I have turn signals and the fuse is good. Where is the switch? I do not see it on the m/c or the pedal lever. Did you find the source of your problem? Do you mean the turn signal switch in the column as in I have to pull the column to replace?

Thank you.

Yep.... brake lights and turn signals use the SAME filament.

That's where my problem was. The signal switch was worn out and
producing a short. I replaced it and have had no issues since. :Thumbsup

thank you,

just pull the steering wheel and should be not too hard to replace I'm guessing , unless someone chimes in and tell me otherwise.

anyone know if the '69 has the pot metal or plastic before I go fiddle with it so I can order one ahead of time?
