switching alternators
has anyone switched out the current 69-71 alternator and charging system with a GM alternator and 1 wire charging system. my 68 PW has been giving me fits with pulsating and charging. made an adjustment on the older voltage reg and just about burnt up the wiring under the dash. I have a GM alt ready to go on but I have to figure out new brackets to make everything line up, any thoughts

Re: switching alternators
Anyone that has a charging issue always leans towards the G M alt. 40 Years I have had MOPARS and never have I not been able to find the problem with charging systems.
Re: switching alternators
The fact that you burned up some wires is indicative of bad/corroded connections with a high resistance. It's likely that the alt is fine, and your problem is with the harness/bulkhead connector.

Re: switching alternators
luckily nothing actually burnt up, they did get warm. I will start looking at connections, etc. this does seem to be the only truck out of dozens that I have had and still have that gives me fits
