A couple wiring questions

Post by my5thmopar »

64 D100 Utiline. Well this simple wiring is frustrating. I really didn't bother making notes, since I have fixed several wiring hack jobs on vehicles. I was just going to use the diagrams. My job and education is in electronic maintenance. I know how to read diagrams, test and fix wiring. So either the harness is not from a 64 or the diagram is wrong. I looked at the 61 and 65 diagrams also.

I can't find the H-10 wire for the horn on the bulk head. The diagram shows it on the tight hand connector. It is just hanging with the turn signals and another mystery wire I haven't tracked down yet. Is it possible the horn goes through the accessory connector and the diagram is wrong?

The regulator ign side was "hot wired direct" through the firewall to the ignition switch. The diagram shows a splice at J-10 to horn, ballast and ignition side of regulator. I've pulled the tape off the wire and can't find anywhere it looked spliced.

I guess I'm going to find the ignition wire and make my own. The horn wire I'll run through the accessory connector. Probably venting more that anything. :banghead But, if you have a suggestion, give it to me. Craig

Thanks a bunch Will. Your pin-out of the bulk head helped me find the issue. Some dummy :banghead ( that would be me) labeled and zip tied the missing connector under the frame for safe keeping. I know I was trying to help myself out but, it sure got me off on a dead end rabbit trail. :joker When I realized the colors didn't match the bulkhead, I knew something was amiss. Again thanks.
