Distributor ID

Post by plabisso »

I have a 1965 D200 Crew Cab with a 318 Poly. I found the following number on the distributor: 444291 38 Is there a way to identify if this distributor is a Chrysler, Auto Lite or some other mfg? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Any particular reason why! Just wondering what you're trying to do.

Unless it has an Accel tag on it, it's a Chrysler unit. Unlike "Fraud" and the "General Mistake Corporation", Dodge back then had primarily made in house peripherals. Dizzy, alternator, starter, automatic transmission were all Chrysler sourced. Stromberg or Carter carburetor, Chrysler or Dana axles, Chrysler or New Process manual transmission, New Process transfer case.
If I didn't build it, it ain't mine.

1949 Dodge B1B-108; 1969 D100-128; 72 Super Beetle; and a bunch of others...
