wrong wiper motor

I have what I think is about a '68 wiper motor in my '62. I know it isn't the stock one due to wiring. Unless I'm missing something. My wiper switch has 3 prongs which matches wiring diagrams, so it should have 2 wires going to motor. My motor has 4 wires ending in 2 plugs which sorta matches a '68 pic seen in another post. Before I go buy a '68 switch, am I on the right page? Can my switch knob be put on the '68 switch? Or is it likely that I can find a '62 motor?

I'll take stab at this. My 62 had a single speed wiper motor(two wires). The switch was a rheostat, which varied the resistance and the speed that the wipers moved. I'm guessing that the newer 4 wire is a two speed motor and the switch would have high, low, off. I would think that the knob would interchange with out problems. I have mine on a late 70's ford switch.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I have a single speed motor lined up. Now it won't rain again for 6 months.

Hoon, I am doing a 70s ford switch in my truck as well. Can you explain the connections on the switch and which wires go where?

I used a wiper motor from a 90 w250 and a ford switch with delay box. I'm not exactly sure on the year for the switch so your wires might be different colors.

Motor
park pos - Lt blue
park neg - green
low - brown w/ white strip
high - red w/ yellow strip

Ford switch
Park pos - red
park neg - black w/ pink
low - white
high - blue w/ orange
12v batt - black w/ green
washer + - black w/ white

Its been a while, but figured I'd post a pic. 92 wiper motor. The clocking is a little different but it works.

Hey, I've been trying to figure out my wiring. Do I understand you to use a 70s ford switch with a 90s motor? Are these colors for the stock wiper motor?

Those were the colors on the donor truck. I just cut off the plug with a 6" pigtail and wired it it in to the ford switch wires as I mentioned above. I haven't gotten around to wiring up the washer yet, but everything else works well.

This is the switch I used. The black box is the delay control. 6-8" down is a factory connector, just get both sides.
