trun signal switch

Post by Txas2step »

Can someone chime in on when the turn signal switch changed from the pot metal to the plastic. '65??? I am stock piling the pot metal ones as I see them on ebay. Bad design, the slide switch breaks very easily....wondering if the later model one's will work on the early shaft....guess I will experiment. Just bought this one.....made a low offer and he took it. :Thumbsup

Wally, the contact slide switch has a plastic arm that breaks off. I was told that this style switch was used in the '61-'62 trucks and changed to the plastic/nylon style '63'-'68. :thinking I replaced that part last year but it broke off again. :pale

I have a 62 W200 crew and I have the plastic in that but my 62 D100 has the same pot metal one. I just replaced my W200 with a 1965-66 Mustang switch for $20 on Ebay works great so far (needed a few adjustments and the wires are the wrong colors and all but its the same switch and cam as my 62 W200) I just finished the install last night took a couple hours to get it customized to work but beats close to $200 for a new one. Plus now I can say I have Mustang parts on my truck.

Wondered if a ford switch would fit...glad to hear it worked for you.. I now have (2) of the original pot metal switches as back -up. Paid $50 for one and $100 for the other. Several on ebay listed at over $200 :pale May buy a ford one for my '67.... it's bad. :thinking
