Hi All,

Got me a used tach that cleaned up well and fits the column great. It looks like the wires are just like the old tach/dwell I got from my dad and still use. I'll wire the light bulb to the dash lights.

Question is: Should I put in a FUSE and if so where and size?

Any and all help is always welcome,
Jimharold

I beleve it goes to the positive side of coil? I'd fuse it if possible.

Also, You should be able to piggy back of the spade terminal on the back of the fuse box for the instrument lights. :idea

Do you mean a fuse for the light in it? If you do, just splice the light into the dash lights, it's "fused".

UPDATE: modified the clamp and it looks good to me. It was broken and the normal tang area was gone. Hooked up the tach like the old tach/dwell meter and it works. About 150 RPM fast but I don't know if the test tach was right in the first place. I need to buy a newer tach/timing light. I'll adjust the old tach when I get a good test tach. I'll post an installed photo when done.

UPDATE: Sent the tach out for an estimate and the shop asked if "the tach had sentimental valve?". To much to fix. I just installed an aftermarket fuel gauge into it. I have to put a new sending unit in the tank also. I'll post photos of the fuel gauge job once it gets done.

Repurposed the tach housing. I don't like the under dash gauge set ups. I plan on getting a new 6 gauge set for x-mas. This is just to get me by. But I like the look. You have to look straight at it to tell it's not an old school tach. The old trim was scratched up. So I painted it satin. I found a better trim piece at the salvage yard in case I don't like this later on. Oh and when I am sitting up in the seat the fuel gauge doesn't block my speedometer view.

Not that it matters now but it goes to the NEGATIVE side of the coil.
