Adding second battery

Post by Red »

Im contemplateing adding a second battery to the 68. Mounting a second factory battery tray on the left side and making heavy gauge cables. better sterting power for the big block in the winter, plus I tow a trailer a lot. What do you guys think?

Some of the camper specials had them from the factory, so it should work if you get the wiring down straight
Thanks, Clint

wireing is easy, the way my buddies old ford was, the primary battery + went to the starter relay and the negative went to the positive post of the second batt then the second batts neg went to ground. id check into this to be sure im right, but thats the way i remeber it. :idea

:study wiring it in series this way will make it a 24 volt system. It should be paralleled + to + and - to -
This will increase the available amps but leave the volts at 12
