Here's a chance for you electronics experts to shine:
I'm still undecided on what ignition system I'm going to use, but I just remembered I have an older Jacobs system on the Dakota, and I think the stock system on it is so good that the Jacobs system doesn't really improve on it much, if at all. So, I 'd like to use it on the '71 if possible.
Here's the difficulty: the EZ system uses an external trigger that connects to the high-tension terminal on the OEM coil, which serves as the trigger for the Jacobs unit. According to the Jacobs literature, this is the only way this unit will work, and the connection diagram backs this up. However, I want to trigger the Jacobs unit either from the Pertronix ignitor I have in the '71's stock distributor or from a Mopar electronic distributor I have in the storage shed.
Anyone have an idea how to pull this off ????
