electrial 73 HELP

electrial 73 HELP

if the brain (ecu)goes out does the whole system go dead ?
no power with the key
any ideas where to start-- the bat is not dead

my 87 year old neighbor has, I havent messed with these newer ones

Hi Fred, Jim here. From what I remember you are correct if the ICU goes out everything goes dead when you try to start the truck. Jim

Was a loose wire under the dash.

At least he can drive it now.

Good find Fred , But if the ICU goes south on ya , it will crank but not start & all light ect will work

on my 71, which is the 72 and later body style, it will NOT start with the key all the time. We installed a push button start switch for the times it wont start with the key. A 76 i was looking at had the same thing wrong. I never figured it out..I dont want to..its part of her personality

What Cowboy said.
My 71 has the later ignition on it, the box went out this summer.
It would crank, but no spark. Took me awhile to get me head in
gear, hadn't messed with those boxes in awhile. O'Reilly carries
a cheap house brand one for $5. Cheap insurance to keep in the
glove box or on the shelf.
