Where to find new connectors

Post by Daddiojoe »

I'm in the process of re-wiring to the turn signals and headlights, and wondered if there's anyone out there still making those double-bullet style connectors. Any leads on that?

Also, if I can't find that type of connector, would it be worthwile to clip the wire close to the connector and then replace with new ones?

Thanks,
Joe

Try this. They look like trailer wiring stuff, but they ought to work.
BTW, if you buy the individual bullets at the store, the ones you need are size .180, not the common .156.

Have you tried the local dealer?
There's a page or two of connectors in the parts book.

What parts book? None of the dealers around here have any of the vintage books left.

Summit sells a variety of weather pack connectors you can assemble.
I am going to be replacing most of the exterior connections with these.
They come in assortments or individually.

Terminal Supply also carries quite a few options.

Had a feeling you were gonna say that.
What year of truck are working on? I will post the page the connectors are on.

Thanks for the suggestions. Has anyone gone to a dealer and had any luck? Because the wires are molded in, and I still have all the connectors, I'm wondering if it might be just as easy to use new wires to the old connectors w/ small leads from them.

Any suggestions on a cleaner set-up?

www.waytekwire.com

check them out. Go to their online order page and type in molded connector. Looks like they have all the various molded connectors you would need, some of which come with 48" of wire attached.

NAPA has those kinds of things... the 2 prong connectors they always have on hand, they are in the electrical / trailer connector section... if you need a part number let me know.

I've noticed that the connectors are packaged with a red and black gauge wire. Is there a place where we can choose the colors of those wires, or assemble them using your own colored wiring in order to keep the same color code as the wiring diagram.

Thanks everybody--lots of good info here. I went ahead and did things quickly and cheaply (pretty correctly, too, I hope).
