Well thats the problem and my gauge says it's full
But i think i might of did it wrong
on the positive side is there suppose to be that paper gaske,t meta(spacer),l pos wire and then the nut to hold it there
Because i just toook that nut off and now the positive wire is on the gasket

yes, there should be a fiber gasket that covers the
back of the gauge. If the gasket is missing the power
feed wire can contact the gauge back.
A washer under the nut will help give some space between the gasket and post and keep things from
contacting in the wrong place.

Looking at the back of the gauge, the left post should
be the power feed (switched, nuted, buss bar
from back of alt gauge, power feed from red wire plugged onto the buss bar), the right side should
be feed from the tank (round push on plug), top post is power out to the temp gauge (spade type plug).

None of these wires should be in contact with the back
of the gauge, only the post they belong to.
