turn signals switch help

turn signals switch help

i have a 1971 d100 i am trying to install a new turn signal switch. the new switch has different color wires than the wireing on the truck. i did not notice it till i unpluged the old switch. how would i figure out where to plug these wires.
any help will be great.

What colors are the wires on the new switch???
any idea what it is from?

the new switch is for a 1971 but its a superceded part number and the wires are the different color.
the new switch has dark green lite green black dark brown lite brown white and red.

I'm gonna assume that the greens are for one side and the browns the other side, red is hot white is ground, but I could be wrong. I assume also the light colors are for the front, the dark for the back. Again, I could be totally wrong.

Try this

dark green- left rear stop signal
lite green- left turn front signal and dash
black- horn
dark brown-right rear stop signal
lite brown- right turn front signal and dash
white- stop switch, from 4 way flasher?
red- power from flasher.

I purchased a new switch off e-bay and the wires were incorrect. I was able to change the wire locations in the harness. The wiring diagram on this site was very helpfull.
