Differences in Springs on a 70-71 W100&W200??

Post by nfury8 »

I need to replace the springs on my 71 pretty bad. It was a D100 converted to 4x4 with an 85-86 suspension. I called Sky Jacker and asked them about their 4" lift system, which uses new springs front and rear. It lists 61-93 for W100 and W200. I asked how their springs would compare to the stock springs, and were they a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton spring. The tech told me that their springs rode like a half or smoother, and was in between 1/2 and 3/4 for load capacity. He went on to say that the springs were the same. I questioned him about the larger bolt size on the 3/4, and he said that was the only difference and the kit included a bushing.

So, were the springs the same design and strength between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton? Same design maybe, but the same spring rates?

Contact Eaton Spring and you will get a correct answer to your question. They are THE spring experts in my opinion.

I love ESPO but they couldn't come through for my rear springs. Robin sugggested Eaton; I called and got "Mike the guru" and got a serious spring lesson. Free. I was so impressed I quit screwing around and ordered. As in a yard sale, if you see what you want, grab it. Man what a fine company and service.

The 100 and 200 springs overlap in ratings. That is that you could order the heaviest spring for a 1/2 ton and it would be heavier than the lightest spring you could get for a 3/4 ton.
