DRUMS NEEDED

Has anyone purchased front and rear drums recently? Would you happen to have the part numbers for those parts and whom it was purchased from? Thanks. I forgot to mention this is for a 71 D100.

a little over a year ago i bought new front drums for my 66 at autozone for around 75-80 each if memory serves correctly. they also had a listing for the rear. napa had them both as well, but wanted more money for them. :Thumbsup go in with all your measurements, width of shoes, diameter etc..... they asked me a ton of questions before they came up with the right part.

dont forget the 2.99 each for the new studs, thats 29.99 total, plus tax of course, and then the 55 bucks it cost me at the machine shop to have the old studs cut off and the old drum removed, then have the new studs and drum pressed back into place. then there was the shoes, the new hardware kit, new wheel cylinders, inner and outer bearings and seals, and new grease caps, oh yeah, and a tub of axle grease. grand total of just under $300 for parts alone. then the next weekend it got new hoses made at $20 each, not the cheapest brake job i ever did!! are the newer trucks drums still pressed to the hub like my 66 was?? if so, better find a competent machine shop, you cant recrimp them studs by yourself :Thumbsup

wish I had my parts sheet here I bought all new drums from San Antonio Brake and clutch cost around $40.00 each, Trey I gues the 70,s should be pressed in but I have changed hubs, drums and studs so many time and never use a machine shop, just a BFH and they go perfect every time.

The lugs have to be pressed into the hub since they are swedged in place
and though you can just use a BFH, there is a good chance
that the lug will turn in the hole at some time when you are
loosening the lug nuts, or torking them down, if you have
ever had one spin you will never do it that way again.
Not all drums and hubs are done this way, but all the
Dodge trucks that use drum brakes are swedged in place,
just as all of them had left and right hand threads on the lugs.
I would say that you have been lucky Robin.

:2cents i did the studs on my 64 plymouth bel, they were swedged in. i used a BFH to knock them back far enough to cut the back of the stud off then pushed them out through the front and popped some new studs in through the back. now i have slip off drums on the front. worked great. good luck. :dance
