Cost of brakes for 70D100?
Can anybody tell me approximitly what it cost's to rebuild the entire brake system on a 70 D100? And also a good place to begin the search for all the parts needed? Thank's.

Do you need to replace brake lines (hard and soft)?
Drums?
, or are you talking about just
the master, wheel cylinders, shoes, spring kits and
front in side seal.
Wagner make most of this, if not all,
avalable from most parts stores,
drums from Napa,
soft lines- front from a parts book
and the rear one may have to be made depending
....
Without drums and lines, should be around $300 to $350 with
new (not rebuilt) wheel cyclinders and a new master.
If you know how to rebuild the wheel cylinders and know
what to look for when rebuilding them you can get by
cheaper, but since you asked this question you more than
likely do not have this know how, or have been out of the
game for sometime (no put down intended).
New drums run around $80 each, hard lines have to be made.
I'm doing a brake job on my 68D right now and that is what
I expect to pay for parts doing the work myself.

Brakes
I have a 70 D100 and I bought everything Lines Rubber and steel, and all springs, retainers, wheel cylinders, drums everything and the ticket was $628.00, that was in San Antonio and 2 years ago, parts were bought in San Antonio took a man 2 hrs to cross all part numbers.

i did the complete over haul on my 66, drums, master and wheel cylinders, and brake hardware for all four corners, including new studs and nuts. parts alone cost me a shade under $600, did all the work, except pressing the new front studs, myself. i did this 2 years ago, and was privvy to jobber prices on most of the items. if you have a shop do it, expect about 10-15% added to the cost of the parts, and at least an 8 hour labor bill on top of that.

Cost of Brakes on a D-100 - Consider a Disc Conversion
Look at this site: http://www.uglytruckling.com/06_brakes_d100.html. They also have a power steering conversion (http://www.uglytruckling.com/06_d100_ps.html - still under developement) and a power brake conversion (http://www.uglytruckling.com/06_mc_d100.html). It should come in at about the same cost as front drums. I stopped driving "NOEMDFAN" right after Bill Clinton was elected as President the first time (I still have the Bush-Quayle bumper sticker on the truck) due to brakes that pulled the truck out of the lane on the interstate (Charlotte,NC traffic was just starting to get "real bad" in 1992. You can imagine what it is now!). Helitool's kit has just been out for about two years now, but funds have been low and projects have been many!
