Pinion Snubber on a Swept!

Post by mopar400 »

This was one of my projects last week. I bolted on a pinion snubber and made a support for it to contact out of 2"X4" tubing. This was a fairly easy install and the only modification to the truck was drilling two holes in the shock crossmember. I haven't been able to test it on a dragstrip but it definetly eliminated my wheel hop on burnouts! :Thumbsup Mopar400

Rancho suspension makes a kicker shock system that does about the same thing. I think a combonation of the two plus new springs should do the trick.

pinion snubber

Since I've moved my gas tank behing the rear wheels I've not had a problem with traction, but then again I'm only runnin small jets in the carb, Whats the draw back on pinion snubber?? :Thumbsup

If you have it adjusted up within a 1/2" of touching it hits on bumps while driving. It makes the ride a little stiffer. I have been just running it on the bottom position and moving it up one hole if I'm going to scorch the hides! Mopar400

Excellent. The old Mopar Chassis Modification manual strongly sang the praises of the simple adjustable pinion snubber. Way better than traction bars; it controls axle windup without altering spring action.

the biggest draw back of the snubber on a truck is its in the way if you carry a load. other wise, they work great. i had one on my 69 charger, loved it. when your at the light, and gas it while on the brake, it made the car haunch up like its all bad @#%. LOLOL!

I took it off my Challenger. I have had it and used it on the car for about 10 years. It came initially from summit racing like seabee showed. I've also seen them on ebay. It wouldn't be hard to make if you had one of the factory pads of a car diff., weld on some tubing and put a bump stop on top. Mopar400
