I pulled the drums off the rear of the truck to work on the brakes. pulled the brake cylinder out and replaced it. it was jammed and rusted. I was going to put new springs in it and noticed that there was no parking brake strut. ??? my 66 repair manual shows one. how does the emergency brake work without it?? :(
HELP!! if you can. Matt

re: brake problems
FarmHand,
On my 64, the emergency brake works off the output shaft of the transmission. External brake pads on a drum. They don't go to the rear wheels at all. Look under your truck by the transmission. If it's the same as mine, you'll see a large drum with external brake pads.
