Flaming River

Anyone ever try out the Flaming River steering gearbox replacement? Feedback? I need to replace my steering gearbox (have tried adjusting it)

I for one, was not aware they had one for our trucks. Do you have a link to their product?

I saw one years ago. I don't see it on their site now. I'll need to call them, I guess.

I’m pretty good at fabrication but a don’t think there is any easy way to use that box in a sweptline.

I'd take a look at a power steering conversion kit, which includes an integral power steering gear, that can be had for that kind of money--maybe even a bit less. My preferred vendor has been black listed from this site, easy blank blank street llc, or CPP (Classic Parts) offers them. I'd avoid the Ebay seller from Texas, as his kit has fitment issues.

There are a few YouTube videos on the installation of these.

The integral power steering gear will be a much faster ratio, which will also be a plus.

I bought such a kit, but with a big block motor, I'm contemplating getting the passenger's side water pump outlet casting (hard to come by). Have you played with any of that?

I've thought about power steering but I really like the simple nature of the current system
