Brake Master Cylinder Rebuild Kits

Post by 64D100Poly »

Hi, I got a early 65 d100, the master works but I’d like to go through it for peace of mind, I’m not sure of the diameter or any of the specs, it’s just a standard single pot. I heard 65-66 is different then 64 and below, I’m not sure what mine has considering it’s a 64 body style. Can you get any rebuild kits for these?

Toss the single and upgrade to dual mater cylinder. Easy to do. I transplanted a 68 D100 system into my 66 W100. :thinking :salut

Trust me, I would if I had the means to, i'm on a pretty tight budget and my truck is my main means of transportation. I heard the after market master cylinders have spotty quality control, for the time being I just need the single pot to be as safe as it can be, I will definitely keep and eye out for a parts truck with the whole setup though. What parts do you have to change? Is it just the master, front lines and proportioning block? Does the line from the block to the rear remain the same?

its really not much that is needed and the piece of mind if you blow out a wheel cylinder or line is priceless
you just need a master cylinder a valve and a couple of lines

Swepts don't have a proportioning valve. What you see is merely a junction block fro splitting lines, combined with a safety switch that illuminates a light on the dash if there is a brake line pressure differential between fronts and rears. There is NO proportioning feature integral to that stock part.

An adjustable proportioning valve is not a bad idea if one routinely carries alternates between light and heavy loads, or frequently loads an overhead rack. I haul loads of firewood with a dump bed over steep dirt roads. So the change between light and heavy loads when going downhill can be radical when locking front wheels is a bad scene (thank heaven for manual gears in low range). I will have front disks, but I'll also put a scale on the proportioning valve so that I can develop calibrated settings. It's not ABS, but it should help.
