1969 D300 Disc Upgrade
1969 D300 Disc Upgrade
OK guys, I've been wanting to do this for a long time to my dually but there are no real options out there that I know of that allows me to retain the original front axle. The only way I know to do this and retain a 2 wheel drive front axle, would be to remove mine, swap in a D200 front axle, use the scarebird kit, and run an adapter, something similar to this---> https://www.southwestwheel.com/p-1891-aa-4fp.aspx. The only other option I know of is finding a later model 4 wheel drive front axle from a dually and swapping it in.
I have access to a mid 60s D200 crew cab parts truck and can get anything I want off of it whenever, so I am seriously contemplating this if it makes sense. Would the steering components bolt up if I went this route?
Do any of you have any other suggestions?

That's no walk in the park either. Switching the hubs to SRW on a Dana 60 is a spendy option, and getting the lugs right very tricky. Check my build thread on that. Then there's the drag link and steering arm. Several people here have done the crossover to reduce bump steer during that process, which gets into frame reinforcement. I chose not to go that route so that I could do a PTO winch but you would have more room on a W300 for that.

Perhaps a 70s full size Dodge motorhome would have something that would fit.

Re: 1969 D300 Disc Upgrade
This has me confused. Are you seeking to have front disk brakes on your solid beam D300 dually axle? I am guessing that hubs/rotors from 75-93 D300 trucks won't fit due to them being from IFS?
94-01 3500 series CAB CHASSIS 2wd duallys had a solid beam front axle with 8 lug disc but the bolt pattern may be metric & spring perches would have to be added to the housing.
70's motor homes with solid axles were likely M400 series & would have 5 lug Budd wheels.

The Ram Man Inc makes a D300 front disc brake kit.

It's not for a dually though. Single rear wheel truck only to my understanding.

I would like to put disc brakes on the front of my D300 axle but I do not believe it is possible to do so with current aftermarket parts that are readily available.712edf wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 8:59 amThis has me confused. I did not know that about the 94-01 dodge trucks having a solid axle. I'll look into that for sure! Thanks for the tip.

Re: 1969 D300 Disc Upgrade
Yes it is the 3500 series 2wd CAB CHASSIS only, not the trucks with pick-up beds. Those don't have leaf spring suspensions but some sort of 4 link with maybe coils, IDK. But definitely a solid straight tube. It was the same suspension the the 94-01 4x4's had.

Well man, he makes a kit for D100, D200, D300, W100, W200, but not W300. Is there just not the demand? Would think there's enough W300s for one small business to make em. Ray Suiter is not doing it anymore . I believe Helitool is also Ray Suiter.
