C500 P/S assist

Post by Danny1983 »

I know its not a sweptline, I do apologize but my resources are dwindling. have a 67 C500 LCF, and I want to add P/S assist to it. I've read as much as I can on Sweptline, Allpar, and there isn't anything that I can find for one of these bigger trucks. One person simply told me that a setup off a D300 they didn't think would be heavy duty enough. When I look in my service manual it looks nearly identical to the ones I see on the web except the drag link is straight and the other end is facing the opposite. What are your thoughts?
Thanks

the W300 shares the same size set up as the D400 and larger trucks. the D300 set up looks similar in pictures but is much smaller. D300 same as D100/200. i believe Garrison Power steering still supports the original systems and might even sell a system that will work on the truck. the systems were made by Bendix and Garrison. I am not sure it medium duty ran both or just one of those brands.

I photographed a truck in Alaska with Garrison p/s added. It was either a D600, 700 or 800. The registry search function is not working at this time or I would post a link to it. It also had 4wd conversion added.

That sounds like a beast of a truck I would like to see those pictures. I did find a garisson unit over on dodgepowerwagon.com in the classifieds, The guy says its off a 60s W300, and should fit 2wd D400-500 just waiting for him to respond. If it fits a D400-500 it should fit my C500. I hope.

The W300 drag link is not the same as a 400/500 drag link so make sure u get a return option.
Maybe if I get a chance I'll walk out to my front yard and compare my 62 W300 to my 67 C500 or my 69 D400 in the backyard.

Its a 70 D700. The registry is seriously screwed up and won't display the listing record page, but you can see a thumbnail of it on this page: https://www.sweptline.org/SweptlineRegi ... 1925&np=95
