'71 D100 king pin thrust washer or bearing replacment

Post by WisD100 »

Hi Guys--

I'm rebuilding the king pins on my D100. It appears that the D100 has a 2500 lb. axel and three types if pivot thrust bearings available, non-metallic, bronze and ball bearing. Are all of these bearings interchangeable upon assembly? Also, does anyone have experience with the different types, is the ball bearing preferable followed by bronze and then Delrin?

Thanks,

People with experience have said the ball bearings are the way to go.

Hi soopernaut--

I checked vendor's application guides and found the the ball bearing units are typically found in big block trucks. It makes sense to me.

Thanks,
