Scarebird aluminum hub

Post by Volksnut »

Does anyone know if the hub offsets the rotor out farther from the caliper bracket?

Jim I just received mine in the mail. Let me ask you this, are yours the Ranger 4 x 4 rotor model? If so did your rotor fit over the hub, in other words did it seat against the hub or did you have to open up the rotors center hole or was it a pressed fit?

Volksnut I can't find the Amazon order page they have an error at this time. The only thing it says on the Amazon site is;

Ford Explorer, Ranger PU 4WD.

From my photos I have this pic;

If you can't read this I'll resend it better. I didn't have to modify the discs at all. Easy install.

Hope that leads you in the right direction,

Yeah I have a shout of with Mark as we speak, I've had nothing but trouble with every piece. I did buy rotors with the rust coating but that can't be that thick as to not letting the hub seat????

So what ended up doing was clearancing the center hole in the rotor til it fit. That problem solved now on to the next. On trying to install the caliper it wouldn't fit with the inner pad on. Found the opening too small. I guess this is all pretty common no....

So here I am answering my own question. For those that what/need to know the Scarebird hub offsets the wheel out (towards the fender) is 5/16". And if you think for a minute it's just a part change out, sometimes with all the different parts suppliers there will be the need to file or grind here and there to make it all fit together. My original hubs made the disc fit to close to the bracket that no amount of grinding on the 2 lower bolts would make it work and with a .007 runout they were no good anyway. Living the dream.

Offset isn't bad, these are 7" wide rims
