'65 D100 drum brake sizes

Post by Volksnut »

Picked me up a '65 rear axle for my '63 so I'd have rear e brakes. On checking the shoes, drums etc. to see what I'd need to replace the sizes aren't matching up to anything I find listed. The drums measure in at 10" diameter and the shoes are 2 1/2". Does that sound right? I was reading they were supposed to be 11 x 2

Sounds like a B-body passenger car brake.

I guess the 10 x 2 1/2" shoe fit a slue of different vehicles, from AMC, Dodge, Fords etc.

Is it possible to swap out the backing plates and drums to convert to 11x2?

Anything is possible, the '63 axle is still in the car so the drums are the same id have to get everything else.

I was also told it could be a later '70 axle as they came with 10" x 2 1/2" rear drum with front disc
