Start looking for a 8 lug Dana 44 or a dana 60. The 44 from 80 to 93. The manual locking hub unit is what most want.

Dana 60s are as rare as hen's teeth around here. I was told recently by a guy who deals only in axles that the last SRW 60 he saw was two years ago.

Yeah the 8 lug 44 may be the easier and certainly less expensive option.

Anyway the drum brakes if in good shape are pretty good I think.

I put over 200,000 miles on my 70 W200 and no issues with the drum brakes. Towed a 20' flatbed trailer w/o trailer brakes, loaded with asphalt roof shingles, CA to MI and no issues with the drum brakes.

If your truck is a small knuckle you can install one of our conversions on it. I am retired but still have about 20 sets instock. uglytruckling.com
There is a post just above this one that I just made about this subject.

I did my 1966 D200 about a year ago. Scarebird had a kit that worked with newer Dodge brake parts. It was not to bad to install if still available.
