steering damper...

Post by dynamutt »

I dropped this https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway ... ggEALw_wcB into my '69 A100, straight axle, manual steering. The front end is >tight<, no slop anywhere.... but nature of the beast, road irregularities come right up to the steering wheel, and the small bit of slack in the steering box ... itll itll dart the wheels side to side a bit, .... the dampner soaks all that right up. Nice upgrade in the ride. Had to improvise a bit to mount it, but it wasn't hard. you got a straight-axle ride, this is a nice addition.

Well the price is right at least. This looks like something I'd put on my VW which as you said keeps the small imperfections in the road from fighting you. But it is small enough that it doesn't take much effort to overcome. I have my caster way back at 8 degrees so not sure I'd need this but may be worth playing with to see how it might fit.
