Maybe I asked the wrong question. I broke my rear wheels all the way down to replace
The wheel cylinders. Replaced the brakes, now putting everything back together.
Hub is back on ;forward wheel bearing back on. Now I have a 2-3/8 nut, a locking ring,
and another 2-3/8 nut. What lb torque are they tightened to?
Thanks

I have always tightened them down where I can't be tightened anymore, and then loosen them about a quarter turn. I have never had a problem with them,

Like ozzie said - tighten first nut until it is "snug" and u start to feel drag when rotating the hub - then loosen a bit til it turns smooth but doesn't have sideplay. Then install lock ring, then outer nut and tighten good and snug. Lastly, bend down tab on lock ring. Best to buy a factory service manual that tells u step by step how to do this. If u get it wrong its no big deal if u don't mind the wheel falling off the truck - either too tight or too loose and it will do that. Also make sure the bearing is lubed - they burn up fast without it.
