Part Number for for Rear Brake Drums
Part Number for for Rear Brake Drums
In trying to remove a rear drum, I've destroyed it, as it has become so stuck through the years.
Rock Auto has a Centric part number, though if possible, I'd rather buy local.
Does anyone, by chance, have a part number for rear brake drums on a '61 D100? Raybestos? Anything?
Any help is gratefully accepted.

I don't believe new rear drums for the old tapered axles are offeredSnowdog wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 9:50 pmIn trying to remove a rear drum, I've destroyed it, as it has become so stuck through the years.

new. You'll probably have to find a decent used pair. Check with
Bud Thorp. He can confirm this for you and possibly sell you a pair
of good used ones.

Sad news indeed...in trying to pull it off, the drum actually mushroomed out!

Are you using the correct puller?
Re: Part Number for for Rear Brake Drums
I was using the widest 3-jaw puller I could find, and none of the 'axle-puller' types were available in my area.

Way more better to just find a newer axle (post 65) and send that POS to the scrapper!

Re: Part Number for for Rear Brake Drums
You don't remove drums with 3 jaw pullers.
My truck is younger than me.

Hello,
You need a puller along these lines.

It attaches to the lug bolts, and pushes against the axle.

No pullers like that in my area, sadly.

Don’t know if they interchange, but have a decent pair on a 1949 tapered axle truck. Well, they were decent the last time they were off, in 1994... Axle is going to the melt yard, top speed of 53mph 70yrs ago, 4.78 gears.
If I didn't build it, it ain't mine.
