Manual Steering Gear box - Will this work?

Post by fosterfarm »

I've found these two reman steering boxes:
1. $327.76 - Manual Steering Model - with Full Spline Input Shaft: https://www.buyautoparts.com/buynow/196 ... ef=2497804
2. $155.18 - Manual Steering Model - with Flat Spot Input Shaft https://www.buyautoparts.com/buynow/196 ... ef=2336387

Of course mine has the more costly #1 type in it. My question is, are these interchangeable? I have a 1968 d200 and from my reading they can come with either type. Can I replace my #1 with a (cheaper) #2?

Thanks!

I ordered a box from Buy Auto Parts and all they did was paint it and it was a minimal at that. It had more steering play than the worn out original box. They sent me a replacement which had the exact same problem so they were both sent back. I don't recommend them.
