New guy with a lot of questions. Thanks for any help you can provide!
Going through making sure I have a totally safe and drivable truck for my wife before I send her out on her own with the 69. I am going to do a Disk brake conversion on the front soon. While I am doing that, what specs or process does everyone use to determine if the kingpins are in spec or "good"? Feel for some play? How much play? Is there a way to determine in advance of having it mostly apart? I have to order everything on line and get items delivered to my location. So I would like to have everything on hand before I start the disk conversion project.

Re: Kingpin inspection Questions
I just raise frt wheel about 4" off ground and use a long pry bar or pipe to lift up under the tire and wiggle from side to side and look for movement in the king pin. Have a helper move the bar while you observe the kingpin. Be sure to replace with brass sleeve kingpins with ball bearings. ( you will need a reamer if you do them yourself).

Re: Kingpin inspection Questions
Thanks, I wondered if it was similar to checking ball joints. Swapping out the the tires tonight so I can check them when I have it jacked up.Txas2step wrote:I just raise frt wheel about 4" off ground and use a long pry bar or pipe to lift up under the tire and wiggle from side to side and look for movement in the king pin.
