Brake Master Cylinder cap

Howdy all.
Wondering if anybody knows of a source for a new master cylinder cap and/or gasket for these trucks. I have the dual reservoir MC, and the gasket for the cap is leaking. It's not a bad leak, just an oz or two every couple of weeks. I can get a replacement MC (with a new cover and gasket included) from Rock Auto for about $30, but since the MC itself works perfectly it galls me to buy a replacement MC just for the leaky cover gasket

I've seen those at Year One's sight. If you don't have a problem with chrome you should be able to find one without much fuss.

Are they on there? I never think of Year One because everything they've got listed for Mopars is for A, B, or E bodies. I'll take a look.

Thanks!

I may have a new one I can send you - let me look (I had a new napa cylinder that I waited too long to return...)

Ok. Don't go nuts looking; $30 isn't the end of the world, and I suppose that then I'd just have a spare MC on hand. :thinking

if you do end up splurging for a new MC,
maybe consider the type with the bolt on cap

i have the same style as you with the wire bail
and i have had no problems,
but people seem to think leaking from the cap is common with the wire type cap
and can be solved with the slightly newer bolt-on style

Yeah, if I do go with a new MC I'll probably invest in one with the bolt. Seems more secure.

Ive never had a problem in 40 yrs with the wire clip type in any of my trucks, starting in 1978 with a 70 W200. I do get sick of wrenching out the bolts to check fluid on the earlier ones though.

Prior to this, I've never had a problem with them either. But, it is annoying not being able to add any extra pressure to the cap to make up for the gasket shrinking. I suppose I could try pulling the wire bail and re-bending it. :thinking
