1969 D300 Rear Axle Bearing Removal on Duals

Post by rkcrump »

Dodge 1969 D300 with rear dual wheels. I am replacing the brake cylinders and shoes. Have removed the axle. How do I remove the rear wheel bearings in order to remove the drums?

Back off brakes in case drum has a ridge. Remove spindles nuts that hold hub onto axle spindle. May need to buy a large spindle nut socket. Pull assembly off spindle once outer/lock ring/inner nuts have been removed. Have you removed rims/tires yet. That also helps.

Get a service manual and follow it precisely. If u make the slightest error, the wheels and drum may come off while you are going down the highway. Not pretty! :shame
