what will fit?

Post by baked »

new to sweptline: i have a 1968 d-100 short box and wondered if anyone can shed a light on how wide of wheel and tire combo will fit under rear fenderwell and wheel backspace ? by my measurements and test fitting a wheel i have that's 15x9 with 3.250 backspace it seems a 15x10 wheel with a 5 or 5.5 backspace should work with a 11 or12 imch tire . Has anyone had any experience with this ? also the front end has 15x8 on the front with 4" backspace and it seems i might be able to switch fronts to 14x7 or 8's with a 4" backspace but will be close to tire rod ends . Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated !

I've had 17"x8" wheels with 6.25" backspace and 285/70 tires on a W200. Plenty of room on the back but not much turning room on the front. Most likely you wouldn't have that size of a tire on the front of a two wheel drive anyway. Careful measuring when the wheels are turned each direction. Never seen one with 14" wheels but I guess it would work.
1961 W500, 1965 W200, 1967 D100, 1971 W200 and a few parts trucks.

thanks ! this pickup will be hauling no loads, so I'm going to try and get as much tire and wheel under it as possible without rubs .
