Sid's installed...Going to remove a rear leaf. Suggestions?

Post by my5thmopar »

64 D100. I need to lower the rear and this truck will not be hauling anything. It sets really high in the rear after installing the 3 inch drop Sids and 2 inch Eaton lowering springs in the front. I've already done the rear spring hangers and got a little under 2 inches drop. The rear has only 4 leafs. Obviously the over load would only give me another 1/2 inch but, I'm wondering if I should keep it for overload insurance. Should I remove the 2nd shorter one on top of the overload or the next one up? I kind of figure It will be trial and error but, I thought someone might know. I need to get about 1 1/2-2 inches more. This is before the new spring hangers but, it still needs more. Yes..I know I've got to reset the pinion angle, shorter shocks and move bump stop. Craig

Do you mind sharing what Sid's currently charges?
I'm looking for the best way to drop my D200.

**EDIT**
The answer to my question is on their website: http://www.droppedaxles.com/DODGE_AXLES.html
It looks like 400 bucks plus shipping.

Did you not have an issue with your oil pan hitting the steering bar that runs from hub to hub??

You said you did the drop axle and lowering springs? Where did you order the springs and how much of a drop were they? If you don’t mind me asking how much were they? I removed leafs like the forum suggested in front and rear, it doesn’t work. To get any drop in the rear you have to pull at least 3 leafs out of a 5 pack and then there is no stability and mine sat 1 inch different from side to side.....now I’m starting over!
