Converting to dual circuit brakes on my 65 D100

Post by Atmobil »

I'm thinking of converting to dual circuit brakes on my 65 D100 and I'm wondering if there is any parts other than the mastercylinder that are different?

hello altmobil,

I imagine the junction block where all the hard brake lines meet up will be quite different for the dual circuit system.

here's mine from 1969:

That is a pressure balance switch that senses when one circuit is out of fluid and illuminates the red BRAKE light on the dash. It is simply a failure indicator and does nothing else. Not required for dual circuit system operation, but recommended.

when i do mine i think i'm just going to tee the front brake lines to go to both front wheels and put an adjustable proportioning valve in the rear line.

Definitely recommended. I once drove 20 miles without brakes, partially through a rough part of town (think judgement night), in my 65 Chrysler when the rear wheel cylinder blew out.

I used the whole system off a 5TH avenue in the bone yard, only had to shorten the rear line, and had the correct fitting to boot.
