Wheel on 1964 D200

Post by blandford1954 »

I want to convert my 1964 D200 from 17.5 " wheels to 16" wheels because the 17.5" tires cost a fortune. Does anyone know if 16" steel wheels from a company like Wheel Vintiques will fit on the D200 ? They are the 82 Series 16" X 6" wheels with a 8 X 6.5" bolt pattern.

They should as 16 inch came on the trucks. :thinking I have 70's/80's GM 8 bolt single piece rims with tubeless tires on my 66. Center hole was enlarged slightly to fit over hub. :salut

Thanks for posting a response. I checked it out last night with a 16" wheel that the manager from America's Tire loaned me. It fit with over an inch of clearance, so no problem.

What is the backspace on that wheel? Too big of tire and not enough backspace the tires will rub.

The back space on the wheel is 4" and the tire is a LT 265/75 R16.

I'm assuming you checked this on the left front to ensure it doesn't
hit the drag link..... :thinking :2cents

No, not yet. I don't have the wheels and tires yet. I should have them by next week. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar set up already.

That translates to 31-10.5-16 in normal tire sizing. Should be plenty of room.
If I didn't build it, it ain't mine.

I agree. I measured everything I could and it looks like there's room to spare.
