front end troubles
around april last year i completely rebuilt my front end. new king pins, tie rod ends, steering arm, inner and outer bearings, brake drums, wheel cylinders, all brake hardware, and an alignment. friday, due to lack of time for me to do it, i took the truck to a trusted mechanic for new brake shoes and a full chassis lube before my upcoming trip. on the way home i notice the truck is harder to turn now, and has an over all firmer feeling to the way it drives. what could cause this off a brake job and greaseing? bearing preload too tight? fresh grease packed in the king pins? is this something i should be worried about, or is it a common thing after a fresh lube that will go away with a bit of driving and working in the grease?? im stumped.......

Trey something doesn't sound right, maybe it is the bearing preload, keep us posted on what if anything it turns out to be.

put about 60 miles on it since friday, and it seems to be pretty much back to normal. i checked the tire pressure, just for lack of anything better, and it was set on all four tires at 32psi, well, mine have a max of 50psi, and i usually keep them at 45psi. so i pumped them back up, and it made a slight difference, but not really that much. im guessing it was the combination of the new grease in the front hubs and king pins and the low tires. but to be honest, i really still have no idea whats up.

Here's an off the wall possibility. Last time I had the full lube done, I had the shop shoot some of the chassis lube in the steering box, as anything thinner leaks out... tightened things up a bit to where you could feel teh difference. Probably not what happened on yours, but just a thought.

mines been full of white lithium grease for the past 2 years. simply cause im too lazy to do the shaft seal. it did firm it up a bit, but he saw it was still fulll and just put the cap back on.
