hey picked up this 70 E50 (500) 4x4 a few months back and finally got around to getting it out and cleaned up. got it running driving (with a gas can on the fender) and all the pto levers freed up this weekend. cab is pretty rusty especially over the trans tunnel and the driver door.
anyway it needs a master cylinder on the firewall, other than that the brake system looks relatively complete and there's quite the master/booster cylinder configuration mounted to the frame underneath
does anyone have a picture, part number, or any pointers to get me going in the right direction. rear drums and front disc
thanks

Re: 70 4wd 500 brakes
That has front discs?
I believe that's a W500 truck & the master cylinder on the firewall is a single reservoir unit with a 1.5" bore & 1.44" stroke (Wagner).
D500,D600,D800 (w 7000# front) used the same M/C.
I'm parting out a W500 & have the rod that goes from the pedal to the M/C, but I don't know if I have the M/C or not, I think I tossed it.
I used to have all the part numbers saved on my PC, but a software change eliminated all that.

Re: 70 4wd 500 brakes
Have you actually looked to see if it has disc brakes on the front axle. I do believe the door tag refers to the rims it has. I have a 70 D500 and it is drum front and rear. Parts for the brakes can be had through a medium/heavy duty truck supplier. I used UCLID brake parts now part of Meritor I think.http://www.meritor.com/products/afterma ... aulic.aspx
My truck is younger than me.

I know that the motor home chassis in the early 70's (not sure of exact years) did have disc brakes on the I beam front axle.
