'65 Brake Rebuild

Post by hullinger »

So I just replaced the shoes, hardware and wheel cylinder on the drivers side of my '65 Utiline. I've got the adjuster pushing the shoes out as far as they will go and still be able to get the drum on, but the adjuster is all floppy. It doesn't contact the star wheel at all. From looking at the pic,is assembled wrong?

Thanks,
Chris

To me it looks like you need to adjust brakes. Adjuster looks to be at/near its min setting. :thinking

You have the springs in the wrong location. The blue spring is for the adjuster, browns at top. :Thumbsup

here's a hint. take your phone and take a pic. before you take it apart. makes it easy to refer to when in doubt.

You're awesome! I switched the springs and everything went back together like it should. I'm greatly appreciative. I'll get to the passenger side tomorrow and of course, take a pic first.

Thanks again,
Chris
