Caster Shim Kit 4 Degree Installation Help Needed

Post by rmansberger »

I am going to install a 4 degree caster shim kit only after one of you great members can enlighten me where to place the shim.

I added power assist steering and I see from posts that I needed this kit. Got one from a member post and now I need to put it in to cure the wandering.

For a 4 degree shim to the positive does the shim go under the front spring pack with 4 degree height forward or to the rear?

A picture would help and if you have any other cautions before I do this, all tidbits are welcome.

I am thinking that you have have to take off the ubolts that hold the front spring pack, insert the new bolt that came with the caster shim up through the spring pack and tighten everything back up.

Do you need longer ubolts for this procedure?

Thank you for your input.

Rick,
You place the shim between the spring pack and axle with the wide part facing the rear of truck. The Idea is to tilt the axle back.
