emergency brake?

Post by naloleal »

I cannot find anywhere if my '66 d100 has am emergency brake. I have no pull handle, no hand brake, and no foot emergency brake pedal.

Am I missing something?

I believe it would originally have had a pull handle (aka Orscheln handle), by the kick panel/plate on the driver's side.
Not sure what year the e-brake drum/shoe was moved from tailshaft of tranny to the rear axles, probably before 66 though.
Does yours have any cables running along the frame rail?

66 has handle on left upper kick panel. They fall down when severe rust in area or removed due to being inoperative and previous owner too lazy to fix it.
My truck is younger than me.

The new rear axle came out in 65. The transmission parking brake drum went away on most trucks at the same time. Larger trucks may have still used this setup later.

My 66 W100 had emergency setup on rear axle. That's how it was when I bought it in 1975. :2cents

The S600 bus still had it on the transmission in 1976,
