king pin replace , bearing upgrade

Post by exline »

I finally replaced the king pins in my 68 D100 and also upgraded to the bearing instead of the stock washers to help steering. it used to take both arms to turn my truck around in a parking lot but not now. with the new bearing upgrade I can do it with one hand! this was an awesome improvement. I also installed new king pins and bushings. I used stock type bushings and not the nylon type you can get now.
I ordered a reamer and put the bushings in myself, it was pretty simple and the whole project took me about 3 1/2 hours from start to finish and go for a test drive. as far as I am concerned this is the only way to go.

napa part number NCP 2621378 is what I used on my truck , it had the ball bearing instead of the washers. it made the steering wheel easier to turn.
