I spent the last 6 months getting everything I needed for the disc brake swap, the hubs came from Scott and I bought the kit from Scarebird. Every thing else was bought locally at Autozone, O'Reilly's and NAPA.

I took the hubs to NAPA had them turned and new longer lugs put in them, then on Monday 12/3 went to work on it. I also had to take the 2 bottom bolts from each side and have machined so they were .023 thick on the head. Then I had to clean the spindles and backing plates.

Got the new backing plates on, the disc and cleaned them up well. Had my nephew (ace mechanic) come over to install the brake hoses and calipers then bled them, and put the truck through the recommeded break in procedure. The process is fairly simple, with exception of the hubs I got from Scott I figure it cost about $500.

Is that the factory location of your sway bar? I just put one in my '68 from a '69 but it was years ago that I pulled it from the '69. I installed it so the dog bones were perfectly straight up. :pale

I guess my question was this an out of the box project? I understand you have to collect all the parts, have some stuff machined etc. but was that all covered in the instructions? Was there any guess work, fudging, tweeking or anything that wasn't covered in the documentation?

the only thing I did that was not covered under the instructions was to do a little grinding on the drivers side caliper. Read this thread:

Nice...Finally someone did a D200 conversion! Great work! That's what I have been waiting for is to actually see someone who completed the D200 conversion. Why did you have to get new hubs and why did you have to get them machined? I thought that turning the hubs was just a D100 thing if you had too but not on all hubs or maybe that was just that you had to turn the outer flange that fits into the rotor. At any rate...if you don't mind me asking what did the machine work end up costing?

I bought the extra hubs so I could keep the stock wheels as a back up, just in case things did quite go as Scarebird described. All D200 hubs must be machined to fit the rotors. Machine work cost $150 for both rotors to be turned and to have the new studs installed plus trimming down the bottom bolts.

What did the Rotors come from? What did the calipers come from ect.

Rotors are from a 89-93 Dodge D250, got them at Autozone part# 5352 $45.99 each X 2.
Calipers are a 94-98 Dodge D2500, got from Autozone part# C557 $21.99 plus 20.00 core RS.
C556 $21.99 Plus 20.00 core LS.
Brake pads are a 94-98 Dodge D2500, from Autozone part# MKD370 $22.99.
Brake hoses are from a 79-82 Chevy Van G10, from Autosone part# 771872 $14.99 each X 2.
Master cylinder is from a 73 Dodge D200, from Autoxone part# NM1494 $37.99.
New wheel bearings and seals cost around $90.00.
1 quart of brake fluid and 1 can of brake cleaner $10.00
The Scarebird kit $179.00.
Labor to do the machine work and install new NAPA 641-3115 studs $150.00

Not Dodges. The 71 vans came with discs or at least the option.
